Just kind of curious as to everyones opinion on this...

What size Muskie would you consider having a replica made? I landed my first decent sized Muskie, 50 incher this weekend, and released it. Everyone is now asking me if I am going to have a replica made, and I really haven't made up my mind yet.

50 inches is considered to be the bar that most musky hunters aim for. Most would get a replica of a released 50 incher, unless of course they already had a mount of one larger.

Cheers and tight lines,
Musky Mike

Congrats on a nice fish and I'm glad to hear you let her go. It can cost you anyware from 600 to 900 smackers to get a reproduction . You gotta ask yourself if you want to shell out that kind of dough ? you can almost half way fill a tackle box with that kinda of CA$H .

But that fish sure would look nice on your wall .

Good hunting

Nobody else has any thoughts on the size it would take, or has taken for you to get a replica made?

i would do it on a 50". everyone has there personal goal but a 50" muskie is a trophy anywhere you go.

i got a 52" on vermilion and a replica made. it is my absolute treasure in my house and something everyone who sees it admires.
i have it in my living room in between 2 trophy bucks. people say the bucks are nice but they are in awe of that muskie.

good job on your catch and good luck with the mount if you proceed.

I've had two replicas made. One is a 52" and the other a 51". Waiting for a nice big tiger before I do it again. I agree that 50" is probably a good starting point but the beauty of replicas is that you can always decide later if you want a fish reproduced. So maybe you decide a year or so down the road that you want one of a 46" for example, who's to say you can't?

Hey,

My answer to this question is relative to your personal best. Once I think I have it, that's the one that gets the graphite-I wanted to do my 53" but then this year I ran into a mother of a 55", so I might get the 55" unless I think I can get one with a bigger girth (I'll keep fishing).

Thanks
Dave
