A little background: The motor on the boat is a 1997 Evinrude Intruder 115. I have 540 hours - had 540 hous on it when it blew. I'd look at anything but trust this dealer and want to go with him. His son is the mechanic. Known the father and son from when I was coaching an opposing cross country team. They're very convenient and have saved more than one vacation for me. They've earned my trust. Besides, every Christmas I get them a 12 pack of Stella Artois.

I recently rigged my boat with the new Mercury 115hp. While I haven't out tons of time on the engine I am very impressed with hole shot, speed as well as how quite the engine is.

For what it is worth, This is the 1st non Yamaha engine I have owned..

Those 135 HO ETECs are Awsome! About 148hp. And lots of torque for that size motor. It really can't be compared to a 115 or really anything in its class. They really are that powerful. And I believe they should be offering a 7 year warranty in the spring again. It would be my pick!

I am running a Honda right now, but in your case my choice would be the e-tec 135HO. Got a chance to drive one recently and all I could say was "wow". If you trust the dealer that much, ask them what their opinion is; they will steer you in the right direction.

I would definitely go etec 135ho. I believe it will also plug and play with your existing rigging/gauges etc
