Default Engine Tilts to Side

Good day everyone. Just joined this morning.

Just got my first boat this spring. It's a Legend ProSport SC 16 with a 40Hp Merc EFI on a Shorelander trailer.

I bought a fairly standard Transom Saver with the bracket under the rear cross rib of the trailer that the support bar fits into. During trailering, the engine eventually turns to one side from the bumps instead of remaining in the straight ahead position even though it was nice and snug at the start. Dealer said this is no problem, but just wanted to get some more opinions in here.

Thanx

I bought mine at West Marine. These will keep your motor straight. They clip on both sides of the motor, so it cannot move to one side or the other.

I bungee my wheel to the windshield support bar. Doesn't have to be super tight.

Welcome to WC!

This is the style transom saver I've been using for the past 15 yrs and have no problems with motor turning or tilting to one side anymore!

Link provided is for example only (not my ad or anyone I know)

You can also get a chunk of PVC and cut two pieces the length of the arms showing when motor centered. Then slice the pvc length wise so you can snap them on the arms, you can also drill two holes in each pvc piece and put a small rope, cable ties, or other such thing to ease pulling them off.

One other point if you don't mind about the hydrolics. What is the rule of thumb for snugging down the engine onto the support using the hydrolics?
