SiriusXM radio rant (another one)
Every year I have to go through this dance with Sirius radio over billing.
3-30-2017 spent an hour on the phone with a barely English speaking lady who quoted me $277.50 for all three radios for one year ending March 30,2018. Fair enough. Now I'm getting bills for each individual radio receiver (3) of $211.56. So why did I talk for an hour to a Sirius rep a month ago?! Just got off the phone with another poor English speaker who is reading off a script and transferring me around from one department to another. After three transfers I told them to shut all my radios off today. I actually hung up after that out of frustration. God, I hate these people. Sorry for the rant (kind of) Pooch

Do the not speak to a customer service rep. As soon as they come online ask for their supervisor. Do not take no for a answer. Keep moving from supervisor to supervisor until you find one who speaks and understands English and understands your situation. Once you have worked through everything ask their title and full name. Let them know you will be asking for them personally if you continue to have issues. The last lady I had was very good and helpful.
Or, just cancel the service.

Pooch, every 6 months I call SeriusXM and tell them I'm going to discontinue my service unless they continue my service plan at their special introductory rate of $30 for the next 6 months. They always do it. If they don't agree, I am prepared to discontinue my service, listen to my iPod for a month or so instead, and then call them back again. I've never had to do that but I'm willing. My wife and I both do it and have never had a problem.
Good luck! |

A lot of the "bills" Sirius sent me were not really bills but just solicitations to renew my service at a higher rate.
I had to let my subscription lapse and go without service for a few weeks and then started up again at a much better "promotional" rate. The Sirius folks I talked to were pleasant enough but were unwilling to give me much of a deal until I discontinued my service for awhile. |

If you cancel send them an email stating this, we canceled over the phone and conveniently they had no record of it, finally got a email from a supervisor, stating we canceled and sent one back saying yes we did.
Got called a month later about a past due account, advised them of the email and sups name and finally got them to quit sending us stuff. Al

I too cancelled my subscriptions on all 3 of my vehicles with in the last 6 weeks. After years of playing games and having my credit card charged for $220 plus dollars for one vehicle and $110 plus dollars for other vehicles before the phone games. money has always been refunded but I just got sick and tired of the games so I finally said F it. I do miss it since a few of my phone chargers interfere with FM reception that I didn't have before. I will probably go back at some point but I hate to give in.

Follow up
I've done what each of you have suggested over the years. It all worked... for a while. Have just gotten so tired of their extraordinarily poor service.
Found a number on the internet and actually spoke to a young man in Canada. Who eventually transferred me back to the PI and hard to understand lady. Ended up at $114 for each radio receiver. Not the best deal, but close enough. Over the next year I want to look for alternatives to Sirius. There are streaming services on our phones and the phones will interface with our vehicles so once I wrap my head around that there will be no more Sirius radio in my life. The only place I will miss it is in Canada on our trips when I'm traveling alone, but I think I can live happily without it no problem. They need me far more than I need them. I just can't see how this company can continue to stay in business with such unbelievable poor customer service and ratings. A similar situation exists with OnStar. I see nothing they offer that I can't do with my phone and do it actually better. The OnStar maps are out of date. My new truck doesn't show state highways that are three years old? What's up with that? Going to stop by Chevy store and ask them for an update. I'm betting there isn't one. Don't get me started on Maytag washer. Five years old and service guy just left saying the bearings were out... for the third time. This last set of bearings and seals lasted less than a year. And, it's raining again.... Good grief. I thought Monday was yesterday. I need more meds. Pooch

I Agree
I hate the games Sirius plays. I now put a reminder on my calendar one week before they are going to bill me at their "list" price. I then call their 800 number and tell the person that answers that I would like to cancel my service. They immediately transfer me to a "retention specialists" that so far has always come up with a 1/2 price deal and I agree to extend my subscription. They must have enough subscribers that just pay the higher fee and not argue to make it worth their while. I have 2 radios on the same account with different renewal dates so I have to call them twice a year. It's a PIA but I like the service so I deal with it.

Other options?
For those far more literate than me, what other streaming services or options are available to replace SiriusXM radio?
I know I can link my phone to my truck screen and use maps from my phone. What about news and radio? Pooch
