Default Who so few 621's with 300 pro XS

Just wondering why everyone running a 300HP on a 621 opts for a VROD or Yammy, is there issues with 300 Pro XS?

There is no such thing as a 300 ProXS. They only go up to 250.

I assume he is referring to the 300 xs that the mercury racing division has. A lot of it probably has to do with the warranty of the motor vs the 4 strokes.

Yah I meant 300 XS sorry. So why the lack of popularity, just the warranty??

Warranty and issues with gear case not being a good fit for the boat and therefore issues with it. Then there's the cost of 91 octane fuel vs. 87 octane.

Can you elaborate on gear case issues?? I was looking at a 621 with a 300 XS and he said in the beginning they had lots of troubles getting the motor to run the expected speed of mid to high 50's with the motor sitting too low and a jackplate cleared up the issues.

Also premium is a massive deterent, thanks for that info.

Mid to high 50s is very achievable with the 250 pro xs. With a Rev 4, 21" I could hit 58 every day of the week and with the right chop bump 60. 2 guys moderate load.

I run a 300xs and love it. There is no down side that I can see. I suspect you are right about the warranty. Never bothered me. The cost of premium is easily covered by the better fuel economy over the verado. Is much lighter as well. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
