'05 Lund Pro Sport with 90 Yamaha

What do you guys think? Way under powered for the '05 18' pro sport?

I have an '03 1800 Pro Sport, it's rated for up to 150hp and I have a 115 on mine, it suits me fine, but I wouldn't want to lose another 25 horses. The 1800 Pro Sport is a nice boat and I've only seen three others for sale in the four years that I've had mine and I watch all the popular web sites. Maybe if you always fish alone, but with a pal or two and gear I'm not so sure.......

Yes definately under powered. As dabirdsman stated it would be fine with just yourself but start adding gear, gas and a couple more adults than you will be running it WOT all the time. For that size boat I'd want nothing smaller than a 115.

i've never bought into the idea that every boat needed to be maxed out on power and have found that, for myself, if you stay within 75-80% you can have decent performance albeit not as fast as some like. In this case however the boat is only at 60% of max and I expect it would affect basic performance needs like getting up on plane or being able to handle rough water etc. I'd stay clear of it or buy just the boat and re power it. Properly powered the pro sport is a nice boat.......much like the fisherman or tyee models but lighter and without some of the bells and whistles.

I took out my 04 1700 Pro Sport with a 90HP today. 90HP is just enough for this 1700 therefore I would expect another foot and the extra weight it would be under powered.

Thanks guys.. Too bad ..was a nice outfit. The cost to repower with either a 115 or 150 with an estimated 4-5k for the old 90 yammy, just doesn't make
sense financially. Better off to look for another rig.
