the H20 is different than the Guide series I had. Much cheaper stuff. no comparison when I looked at them.

My uncle in Alaska who hunts and fishes regularily up there said he has switched over from Guide Wear to Helly Helmsman Impertec (sp?). He said GuideWear did not do the job for him.

Tim
THe Helly Hanson rain wear is very good.
Also, for the very extreme days, I have a pair of "off shore"
Blue water rain gear. The Blue water gear is absolutely waterproof.

Any of the gortex or other "breathable" fabrics will allow moisture to come through - when you have those all day driving rains.

The very fact that the fabric breathes - allows the moisture to seep through - when the wind is really driving it.

--
For less wet days, particularly when it is warm or hot out - then the guide wear or other breathable gear hits the spot.

Take care
REW

Yep! That is what I have and I have NEVER had any problems with it and I have been in some torrential downpours/weather! I love that stuff and bank my comfort on it, every time I go out on the water!! I do maintain it though.

The best rain gear I own is my Columbia Omni Tech. I also have a set of Gander Guide wear, it's good but not as "dry" as the omni tech! My guide wear is for boat use only...if the woman caught me wearing the omni tech around fish...again...azz chewing...again!

I fished the same event and got soaked as well (in Guidewear). I think what was happening however was that, it was blowing/raining/snowing so hard that the water was "wicking" down through my hood. I don't think the Guidewear failed.

I have never gotten wet in my Gander MTn guide wear. I spray it once a year to renew the waterproofing. works for me

I know have 2 sets of Guidewear and I've been using Guidewear since '88 and love it. I've been on Detroit in those nasty conditions and at the end of the day, have always been dry. My partner uses the BPS 100mph suite and gets wet in the seat of the pants and seams on the legs. If you looking for an equivalent to Guidewear without the price, check out the new rain gear from GameHide. Best gear I have seen AND USED for a little more than half the price of Guidewear.
