Default US2 noise?

I recently installed a lowrance x-135 on my bow and ordered he appropriate cable to hook it up to my MinnKota's US2 transducer. Both times I have had it out I can here a subtle ticking noise coming from the transducer, both out of the water and submerged. Is this something I should have MinnKota check out?

That is how transducers work.
The depth finder sends an electrical signal to the transducer.
The transducer changes the electrical signal to a mechanical signal. i.e. the mechanical pulse then goes down to the bottom of the body of water and bounces back off of the bottom.

The transducer then turns this received mechanical pulse from the water pressure and converts it back into an electrical pulse that is interpreted by the depth finder and displayed on the screen.

So, the slight ticking that you hear is a perfectly normal response for this or other transducers.

Take care
