I bought it last year in August and fished out of it until November (limited to trips up north until ice up). It wasn't until a couple weeks ago while on family vacation that i really noticed that I could not dial it in for cruising comfortably. I thought it was just the weight of the full family in the boat. Then the following week in Canada with only my fishing partner, it continued. It has to stop...drove me nuts.

Did anything change, even minor, before you started noticing it? If not, I would start with the prop, I tried a variety of props until I knew I had the best possible prop along with optimum engine height, then when it still porpoised I finally (reluctantly) added the hydrofoil. But I wouldnt recommend just throwing one of those on if your not propped correctly. I am guessing there is a common setup or two for the Etec's on here, I would start with that setup and go from there. Have you contacted your dealer, they are usually pretty helpful with issues like this? OR you can call Ranger, they have surely tested this combo and will recommend which setup they found to work best. In addition, check the bottom of your boat and make sure there is not damage, I believe that can cause porpoising too.

I tried a defferent Cyclone 4 blade 21 pitch prop today. I don't know why but even though it was the same specs as my prop, it was a huge difference. Not nearly as much porpoising. It made enough difference that my first step will be to get a professionally machined prop from a prop specialist. The prop I tried wassn't even professionally worked on and it made a difference...I can only imagine what a machined prop will do.

I'll keep you informed.

Thanks for the comments.
