I've never had much luck with them. I can't say i've used them all that much, but when I have tried them they get put away quickly, and the salmos and shad raps come back out!

I once bought a bunch of them when the store had a sale price. Only 1/4 of them ran straight. I removed the hooks from the rest and used them as Christmas tree ornaments.

Default Back in the day

Babe Winkelman was pushing them as Lindy's answer to the Shad Rap. Unfortunately, I bought into the hype and own a number of them that have never done anything produoctive for me. I used them as trinkets for the nieces and nephews to stock the little plastic tackle boxes, and I think they liked the bright colors....

Default shadlings

A former Lindy employee talked me into buying a bunch of them. I found the quality lacking and the results dismal. They won't be on my boat next year- - -jerr

Default I beg to differ

THE #5 SHADLING HAS WON ME NEARLY $2700 FISHING TOURNAMENTS IN MICHIGAN on Hougton Lake , Burt Lake and LAke charlivoix, Holloway Resevoir. The metalic #5 in chrome and gold are no longer available because the hot metal dip production mold was worn out nearly 10 years ago. I will not sell the 16 I have. 45 feet back using 10# xt is the magic number for trolling.

The original ones with the clear lip were killer for me on the Columbia River back when they first came out (20+ years ago).

I love the old shadlings, and they go for a premium on ebay.

I ran into a clearance special on them at Joes, and have had decent luck with them. But I mostly use them for throwing on top of wing dams and other places I would be hesitant to throw my shad raps and hornets.

Theyre worth about 2 bucks, if you can find them for that price grab a couple for fishing in hazardous conditions.
