Warrior
I’m shopping for a new boat and Warrior is #3 on the list of considerations. When I look at pics of boats at dealerships about 1/2 of them have trim tabs. Is their hull design such that they need trim tabs? Why?

Clawman,
About 90% of the bigger heavier boats would be all around better boats with the use of trim tabs. Simply put when you have these larger heavier boats - especially heavier with the bigger motors at the stern, the boats hop on plane at much lower speed, can stay on plane at lower speed, and can operate at various boat speeds with out having the bow up in the air, and it also minimizes the prospect of having a boat porpoise. When I go down to the river and check out the river boats with multi engines in the 25-50 foot range, there are almost none of them that do not have a set of trim tabs on them. Again, the trim tabs are used for the same reason. Even the classic 16-20 foot boats could profit from the use of trim tabs. How often do you see a boat take off, fast or slow and see the bow rise 3-6 feet in the air, as the boat pushes itself out of the hole. But, if that same boat employed a pair of trim tabs, the bow would rise very little as the boat comes on plane. With the use of either the hydraulic or electric trim tabs, the tabs can be used when needed; but if not needed as is the case when running flat out, the tabs can be lifted out of the water if not needed. Good luck |

As was stated in the linked thread, the main reason for trim tabs on a walleye boat has nothing to do with bow rise on take off or porpoising, the reason is they are the best tool available for fine tuning and optimizing your ride and boat handling in rough water conditions.
The reason you see them on Warriors is because they recognize that and make them a readily available factory installed option. Waxy Last edited by Waxy; 09-03-2016 at 06:14 PM. |

EXACTLY, any boat will benefit from Tabs, most brands are worried sick about COST, Warrior and Others build their boat to a degree that they know how things should get done, without worrying about a Extra Grand here and there, I mean you guys are spending $75-$80 Grand on a INLAND FISHING BOAT, not a Salt Water craft, kind of funny when you think of how many fish most eat

Waxy,
I agree with your comment in that virtually any boat would perform better with the use of trim tabs for all phases of boat operation. i.e. all of the way from 0 rpm to wide open and everything inbetween. At each and every speed, the trim tabs can be used to optimize the boat operation for that exact speed and boat loading condition. take care |

I agree that trim tabs are a great tool in tailoring your hole hot and ride, don't forget a hydraulic jackplate in the mix, also a must have in my book. The Warrior hulls aren't the fastest but in rough water they may be close, the new 208, I don't know and really haven't read much on it, although that would be my choice if choosing a Warrior.
I've had a 1790 and an 1898, very good boats for sure. |
