Default VHF Antenna Mounting Dilemma

I am in the process of installing a Shakespeare 4187 antenna mount and a 5226-XT antenna. The mount has been installed without issue but the problem I'm having is with the orientation of the cable where it comes out of the antenna side in relation to the mount handle. No matter where I start to thread the antenna on the mount, the cable ends up on the side closest to the handle and it gets in the way. I need the antenna to be rotated 180 degrees so that the cable is towards my boat window. I can't go an tighter with it and if I unscrew it 180 degrees it is too loose on the mount.

Only solutions I can come up with is to take the antenna back and hope that I get one with the threaded sleeve on differently? Come up with a thicker rubber gasket or washer that will allow me to unscrew the antenna but yet keep it tight? Or try to push the cable back out through the bottom which I tried to do already and I'm worried about damaging the cable?

Any thought guys, I'm sure someone has had this same issue before.

Those mounts have a 1"-14 thread, so each revolution is just over 1/16" of an inch. Try to find a washer (preferably stainless) about half that thickness (1/32"), and use it as a spacer, rather than a rubber washer.

X2 ... Shim it. Try a regular or even a lock washer (in SS).

Crazy how sometimes we overlook the obvious. Not sure why I did not think of a washer or two but great idea guys. Now I just have to find someone that carries large SS washers.

Insert into the antenna base's female threaded socket a rubber stopper that will provide a reduction in the number of turns before the male threads bottom out.

Or, remove from the male threads of the mount the necessary number of threads to accommodate the desired position of the antenna threaded coupler.

I found a company on line that sells SS washers big enough. I'm going to try them with some neoprene washers. Will let you guys know how I make out. Problem right now is that we got almost 2 feet of snow over the past two days so I need some sun and thawing first before I can get to my boat again. This weather s--ks!
