Different topic.............clothes washer

Seems our clothes washer has a strange oder in it. If the door is left shut for a couple of days it is strong enough to smell when loading a load. Is there anything you guys recommend I use to eliminate that smell? I'm thinking some solution to add instead of detergent and just run it through a cycle with no clothes in it.
