Get rid of the washer, install a big laundry tub, and give your wife a wash board!! No more smell.....

Keep the dryer though so she'll know you are thinking of her!

Had that problem for quite a while ran everything through the washer and the smell always came back. Then I checked all the drains in the basement and found the threaded plug that by passes the trap in one drain was missing replaced the plug and the smell disappeared. Might want to run some water through each floor drain in case the water has evaporated from the traps. Don't know why replacing the plug stopped the smell but it did. No more rotten egg smell in the basement.

Wipe the front boot out with bleach when done washing, make sure your using HE soap and not to much of it, also make sure the Cold water wash temperature is over about 70-75 degree's.

Rinse out from time to time the fabric softner/bleach/? dispencers.

See what happens after that.

A light in a washer? Never seen that before.. I'd find a way to get rid of it.

If I leave the door cracked open after every wash, I've never experienced a smell.

I've forgotten clothes in the washer, or accidently closed the door (wet) for a couple days. Yep, it will stink.

My washer has a "clean washer" mode. Once a month it calls for a cleaning. Just bleach in the dispenser and turn it on.

to eliminate that smell? yeah i have an idea: don't leave the door closed!
i moved 6 months ago and my landlord's washer was really stinky, but i left the door open every time i washed something. i mean after
and gradually the smell went away

Well water i assume?

i usually dis-infect our washer every once in a while. I just run a cycle using warm water and bleach. Bleach kills everything in the washer.

Buy a gallon of vinegar and run a couple of empty loads with a 1/2 gallon of vinegar each time.
The smell will be gone.
