Default Honda 150 on Lund Tyee 1950

My buddy just picked up a 2003 Tyee 1950 that is already rigged for a Honda. What kind of speed performance can he expect from the new Honda 150? He'd like to be able to avoid getting a kicker and we guess that the 150 I-4 will troll down better than the 200 v-6. Tried the search but came up empty. What do you guys think of that combo, anyone currently running one or similar? Thanks in advance. Bret

I'm going to take a guess and say 43-44 mph. I run a slightly smaller/lighter version of the same boat (Tyee 1850) and get top speeds of 45-47 mph depending on load. That is with a 150 yamaha hpdi.

Just my opinion but I would think a 1950 with a 150 hp would be slightly underpowered.

I would be very leary about a 150 on a 1950 Tyee....I have that boat, and spent the extra money for the Honda 200 and couldn't be happier...As far as fuel consumption goes, I just spent 2 days on Leech Lake MN running all over, and burned all of 16 gallons of gas...Speed is not really important to me and I'm still running the factory aluminum prop and will get 48-50 mph on GPS though I rarely run at that speed.....You will love the ride in that boat!!!! Good luck...
