Default Panther Static Mount Problem

I just purchased a panther static mount for my Lund 186 tyee gl. I also purchased a new Yamaha t9.9. When I went to clamp the motor to the mount the clamps were too short. When tightened all the way down there is still a gap. Is this a problem encountered by others and how did you fix it? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

This is how Lund rigged my 186 gl with the panther mount. They put a solid synthetic 2x4 in to close the gap.
