RE: Elec trolling motor vs. gas outboard
My dad always said the motor had to be running to catch walleyes, even when drifting. He caught more walleyes in all types of waters than anyone I know, yet I rely on my Minn Kota trolling motors. I had problems quite a few years ago, not having enough power. That's been remedied buy adding a 2nd Minn Kota to the stern of my boats. Up to my 19ft Alumacraft, a 2nd 12v powerdrive was enough. I'll be running a pair of 24vs on my 20ft Tuffy. Seperate batteries, use them together at the same time. I can even troll at up to 2mph for 5 or 6 hrs using the 2 together. River current or 6ftrs on the Great Lakes, boat control has never been easier. For trolling boards, a gas kicker works best.
