Default Trolling lures with something in front of it?

I love to troll flicker shads! Was wondering if anyone puts an attractor object like a spin and glow several inches to a foot in front of their trolling lures to make it look like your lure was chasing something else? Any thought or experiences I would love to hear them. Joe

I have had good luck putting a couple bobber stops and quick change clevises ahead of cranks and putting spinner blades on them. Makes it look like a school of fish swimming through. Only problem is that the fish hit the blades occasionally, but more often than not they hit the crank.

I don't see them used much anymore, but devices like Luhr Jensen lake trolls used to be pretty common.
