Your prop helps but don't forget your setback pushes your motor back into cleaner water and your prop will have more "bite", another positive for the jackplate. If you watch the transom at WOT you see how much air is in the water from running down the hull of the boat but after a few inches it starts to disappear and that is the water you want that prop to run in.
