I installed one this spring and am happy with it. I do boat-in camping trips with no way to charge the trolling motor battery. I use the bow mount trolling motor for casting shorelines, and I do enough running from spot to spot plus trolling with the outboard, to keep the TM battery well charged during my trips. If you used the TM for trolling several hours straight it would take a lot of running the outboard to recharge. I have a 16' tiller, 50hp Yamaha 4-stroke and MinnKota Powerdrive 12-volt bow mount. The "charging" indicator light on the alternator charger comes on at about 1100 rpm, so trolling at 3 mph I'm charging the battery.

Works well, also lets my trolling motor onboard charger - charge the main battery.

I also have installed one of these. If you are going camping on an island etc, it's a great solution. I've made it a full week without a recharge fishing partial days.

I also installed a Yandina combiner. I prefer a combiner because they are less expensive. More importantly, the Minnkota limits charging output to only 10 amps per bank, but a combiner does not limit output. Thus a combiner will more effectively charge batteries.

I've had great success with Stealth 1 Charging. I make serveral trips a year to remote Island and never have to worry about charging via a generator. Great customer service and easy to install. http://www.stealth1charging.com/
