New boat looks great. Did notice the consoles are 4" farther forward than previous 1880. Back deck not as roomy, but jump seats nice for the family. Would be nice to have more fuel. Will this boat be bow heavy with 3 batteries up front?? Considering buying one...

What would be your choice of motor and horsepower for the Ranger 1880MS? Would you have any concerns about putting a Mercury Verado Pro I-6 200hp on this boat?

I am confused by not as much room in stern, with 4 inches forward, would that make room in stern close to 1850? Why 3 batteries in front? I have 1850 and looking to go to 1880 Angler or the 1880 MS, but will stick to the 150, not interested in the 200 at all. If the boat is too heavy for 150, I will look for year in sale on 1880 Angler or will keep my 2012 Ranger 1850 with 150 Yamaha 4 stroke

I just received an e-mail from Ranger saying that All 6 cylinder 200hp motors are not approved for the 1880 MS.

Even the Opti and Etec? Seems odd. Or is that all 4 stroke 6 cylinder?

HunterJoe,

Below are the e-mails I received today from Ranger.

1. "We have spoken with our Customer Service Department and the 6 cylinder Mercury Verado Pro I-6 is not approved for the 1880 MS.

2. My reply back to Ranger:
"Would I be correct in assuming all six cylinders 200hp motors would not be approved for the 1880MS ? For example, the E-Tec Gen 2 200hp. H.O. six cylinder?"

3. Ranger's reply back to me:
"
We have spoken with our Customer Service Department and that is correct."

That's boring. I guess that's why the one in the pick has the 150 ProXS on it vs a 200. You're limited to just a couple I think, right? Yamaha F200 XB and I4 Suzuki or Vrod?

The Verado L4 200 is 510 pounds and the Optimax 200 is 505 pounds, I would think that either would be an option from Merc on the 1880 MS.
