Default 1750 Crestline fish hawk

I have a 1750 fish hawk with 50hp 2 stroke merc.....our local lake is 20 hp max so I'm thinking of buying a 20 hp motor.....I know I won't set the lake on fire but does anyone have an idea of speed? I understand it depends on load weight assuming 2 adults and some fishing gear

I would say about 10mph. I can't see it getting on plane. My last boat was a much lighter 16' with a 30hp. With 3 big guys it wouldn't get on plane. My 1750 Fishhawk has a 115.

I have a Dominator 165 rigged with a 9.9 kicker which becomes my main power plant on the 20hp lakes. Top speed with the kicker on flat water at WOT is 6 mph.

Hope this helps.

Based on my experience with an old 16' Lund with a 10hp, I could get 21mph with 1 plus gear. That boat weighs about half the Crestliner and has less deadrise. I suspect you could get the boat onto plane and reach about 18 mph.

How big of a lake is this ?, sounds like a good time to upgrade to a good trolling motor that's if the lake is small

Or you could by new 20 hp graphics ,lol

Looking at the expense of buying of NEW 20hp, have you given any thought into just having a 2nd boat with a 9.9-20hp motor? If thats not possible...a new 4str 20hp proped right might get you 15mph WOT.

Thanks guys I assumed it won't get on plane....so dumb question but would it be a waste of money to get a motor with power trim then?

Would be better than pulling on the motor whenever you want to raise it...

Kicker props are totally different than regular motor props, so comparing a 9.9 kicker to what your motor will do isn't quite accurate. I'm sure with the right prop you could push 15mph or so, MAYBE get it on plane if there is a decent chop and the weight is distributed right.

You might be able to "tinker" with the motor.. Or get a "large" motor with a 20, H, and P, decal to get a little more speed.. if you know what I mean.
