What happened to "Duct Tape"

Lately I have notice that Duct Tape is drying out faster and it basically sucks. Anyone else experience this.

Now I use clear packaging tape more as it holds much better.

Try Gorilla tape, it's duct tape's big brother. About 10 times better than duct tape ever was.

I believe it is now being built to a price point rather than quality being the bench mark. Duct tape became a fashion trend when folks started using the colors to make bracelets and all sorts of things. As a fashion item duct tape did not have to be durable.

There are other tapes out there which have basically replaced duct tape when you need it for the original intended usage. If you want to make a colored bracelet, grab a few rolls of duct tape.

I haven't noticed it drying out any faster, but usually don't expect much longevity from it when I use it. I store mine sealed in a ziplock and that might help the shelf life.

My daughter has about 15 rolls of various colors and patterns of "duck" tape. She can make you a wallet, an iPad cover, and all kinds of other stuff. Try the gorilla tape or the 200mph tape. Both work way better than our old standby.

I haven't noticed any discernable difference in the recent past. I normally use it to tape up my fingers after filleting them open on something, but that has been awhile.
Put a band aid on and cover it with duct tape...holds up pretty well and I can keep on keeping on.

Lots of good tapes out there as mentioned including the old standby 3M product lines.

+1 on Gorilla Tape... made repairs to just about everything with it.

You get what you pay for, six rolls for $10.00 at Harbor Freight made in a third world country, not so good. A roll for $8.00 from a made by a USA brand company, still pretty good stuff.
