That Larson might be a bit underpowered too, but what a GREAT looking setup!

If I were in the market for a 16 foot tiller, this would be it. New boat. 16 footer with a 90 inch beam and tons of storage including a lockable sonar cabinet. Can stow an 8 1/2 rod. And I would go for one of the new 2015 75 mercs. More c.i., more torque, and much lighter than the previous 75.

Also keep an eye out for Lund 1625 Rebel XL's. They were introduced in 2008 and were replaced by the 1650 XL in 2011? 2012? Can't remember the phase out/in date.

Anyway identical hull design that is 3 inches shorter. The 1625's had longer bow livewell with a corresponding loss in storage that occupies that space in teh 1650's. The original location of the TM battery was in the stern, I think they moved it to the bow for improved weight distribution. 75 hp max for 1625 and 90 hp max for 1650 (Most 75 and 90 hp motors have identical weights anyway).

And to step further back in time they had the 1660 Classics which were previously mentioned. Also an IPS hull that is similar (identical?) to the 1625 XL's. Different layout that I wasn't as fond of with the livewell on the side. But should troll, plane, and cruise the same as the Rebel XL's.

Also look back at least to 2008 for Alumacraft Classics. No major changes that I know of, and it is also a very solid boat I was strongly considering. The last major update of 4 strokes happened in the 2005 timeframe when most switched from carbed to EFI, which I love for sure. Some of the newer bigger ones are lighter in weight than they used to be, but most of those are 150 HP+.

The new Merc 75-90-115.s are 40 pounds lighter than the ones they replace and 2.1 L vs 1.7 L. A lot more torque.

Great advice from all, thank you.

Keeping an eye on craigslist mostly. Looking on this site too. Any other good sites to check?

Called on a few boattrader.com ads, and the boats were all already sold.

any thoughts on a 2006 alumacraft Navigator 165 cs vs. alumacraft 2007 classic 165 cs

both have the same size and brand motors. Navigator in very good shape, classic in great/showroom shape.
