Default Deep Diving Cranks

I normally fish lakes that aren't real deep (8-12 feet). Many times when pulling plugs I flat line a couple that only go that deep and then use boards with deep divers set 15-20 feet back to achieve my desired depths. I always use precision trolling to keep the baits where I want them in the water column, but I was wondering if having such a short lead behind the board is a bad idea or if anything in this plan will cause me an foreseeable problems.

Default Short line

I have run as little as 6 foot off a board and never had any issues. that being said I have ran as little as 25 feet straight out the back of the boat and still done very well. I suppose water clarity would be only the issue but even slightly stained water should make it so you have no problems.
