Question Inboard 2003 Lund 18.5' Grand Sport won't plane.

I have a 2003 I/O Lund that had a cracked Gimbel on it. Now that that has been replaced, the boat doesn't want to plane anymore unless I get 3 people sitting up in the bow. Does anyone have any idea what could have changed here?

I agree...sounds like a different prop... too much prop...
...or the throttle isn't opening all the way for some reason?

Pull up the doghouse.
With the motor turned off, open access to the carb. Run the throttle through its full range of motion.

Make sure that the carb butterfly goes from full close to full open.

If it is fuel injected, be sure that the induction control goes from min to full maximum.

I assume that you know the particular prop, brand, size, diameter and pitch that you had on the boat. Do you still have the same prop on the boat.

Check the range of your I/O trim. When you run the trim, does the outdrive follow the full range of trim. i.e. if you trim the motor down, does the outdrive come down and get tight to the transom?

Since you had outdrive work, it may be that it was put together incorrectly so that you are not getting full range of outdrive trim movement.

Good luck

Took the boat out again today and found out the guy who repaired it didn't adjust the trim gauge! When I realized that, I put the motor down and it ran as always! The repair guy fixed the gauge in about 2 minutes.
