Talking Oil change, Ranger hubs

Yesterday decided to check the hubs on my trailer. Pulled the rubber gasket and a dark grey colored oil came out. My question is, is it time for new oil? Is water leaking in when load/unloading? How do you know? Will be taking some road trips up to the Rainy in the next few weeks and want to be sure of no problems on the way. Also what brand/weight of oil is appropriate for the bearings? Thanks in advance. Kramer

I just changed mine over the summer and I do believe it called for 50wt motor oil. It's all in the manual if you have one. Also I think the oil that came out of mine after 3 years was grey. There was no water present.

According to the manufacturer even a couple drops of water will turn the oil grey so it fine unless you have oil leaking.

I thought after 5 years I would change my oil also on a 2006 trailer, the allen head plug would not budge, oil looked good so I gave up and put things back together.

Hmmm. I have a 2006 EZ-Loadr. Since the hubs never get dunked in water, I'll probably never change the oil.
