Yamaha is guilty of dumping already. Now they have claimed that even with the added tariff they have no intent to raise their U.S. prices. Are they not even more guilty then of dumping below what their price should be if they do not pass on the increased tariff cost to the U.S. consumer?

Mad Man Merc
if i'm not mistaken price controls and limiting purchasing power is more a socialist methodology.

I'll have to join Norhtern Light.
1. Softwood lumber: NAFTA, NAFTA, WTO. Three decisions, American authorities don't care. In this case, the NAFTA panel of 5 had three Americans on it who agreed it was (is )illegal. The WTO has ruled that Canada can place retaliatory tariffs on a variety of products from the USA.
2. Red wheat: Sells for more in Canada, sells for more than American Red Wheat in America, Still 11% tariff.
3. Beef: The North American beef industry is integrated. Meaning there are lots of American cows in Canada, and lots of Canadian cows in America. One lobby group is fighting this one... they're called R-CALF

It seems to me that American lobby groups have much power in your country, and if they lobby hard enough, your government will respond, even if it is considered to be illegal.
The outboard motor thing aint over yet, nor will it be for a long time. There is signifigant evidence that, even when found to be in the wrong, the American government will continue to charge tariffs on foreign products.

The NAFTA panel had 3 Americans, so what does that mean? There are plenty of liberals that will legislate from the ‘bench’. Check out http://www.moveon.org/front/ and you can see one example of liberals bent on bringing down the existing government administration. If there members were on the panel they would most likely reverse any thing the current administration would purpose for pure partisanship.

Hey, I guess Canada has it correct in the eyes of the NAFTA. The government rented Russian transport planes to transport DART equipment to for Tsunami relief. Can’t build or use you own equipment if you can purchase it cheaper elsewhere!?

Oh yea, need to keep on topic to keep from being pulled. So if Canada can use a foreign country to carry their military can Mercury use a foreign national country to make components?

It is kind of difficult to tell if they have a legitimate claim at this point in time. If you look at the US auto market, whoever has the most reliable product is sure to gain market share, even if it costs a little more.

I don`t really know whos right or wrong in this dispute. But I do wonder if Mercury ever thought about a posibility of a backlash against them by the consumer.Seems to me that theres some unhappy people here. This isn`t the first Mercury raised #### with someone. The Japanese do a better job at investment in product than American companies do. Fat dumb and happy been tradition for our companies.Too much profit goes out the door, not in product investment.

More Rhetoric
Nafta was not our idea slick, shame you don't know your history. The Nafta agreement was really about making it easier for the U.S. to get it's hands on our resources(Mexico included). Water, electricity, natural gas, the list goes on. I guess our leaders figured it was easier to sign that agreement than end up living in a whole in the earth. Sometimes it's just easier to give the bully what they want.
p.s. You could never understand this, but I don't think Canadians feel real broken up about not owning a massive military. I guess it was always more important to us to take care of our health care system than invent and mass produce weapons. Sorry we just have different values. Actually #### that, I'm not sorry I'm very PROUD.
