Default Obviously cheap easy fix

I am laughing at these suggestions! obviously not 2plus2 motor it's standard 3cyl 75-90hp pretty much all same. Some have oil injection some do not like Force Mercury and also some Tracker stamped ones. You are either stupid or not reading. You deserve to be raped by Mechanic

Up to you find right one

It will be square like this unit

I got some bad fuel and my motor acted the very same way. Did you happen to fill up with fuel prior to the trip?

I have one of those bad boys - just my is grey and says Mariner.

I've had 1 bad coil - similar issues.

Bad fuel pump - similar issue

I replaced my fuel filter with a 3rd party that is clear and has replaceable filters. You could see the fuel level dopw when there is a fuel issue.

#1 - I'd look here ----- Quick connect at the motor slightly sucking air - several times - same issue. If you pump the bulb, and it's soft and starts running OK, check the quick connect. I always carries a spare or 2.

Never had any major issue with mine - did pull all 3 carbs off and clean once.

This happened to me on a 1997 Crestliner, same motor. It was the fuel line from the boat tank to the fuel line with the bulb in it, about 1 foot long. It was a double wall safety hose that had a rupture in the inside liner. It would swell up and partially block off the fuel supply. In my case I couldn't get above 3800 RPMs. The dealer couldn't figure it out. I took a 3 gallon portable tank and used it instead of the boat's fixed tank and the motor roared to life. The motor was simply starved for fuel. Might be worth a try.

If the tube is attached to a hole in the leading edge of the lower unit then it is for a speedometer. Do you have a speedometer installed on your boat ?
