Default prop help

I have a 2012 186 tfx yarcraft, I'm running a 19 pitch tempest plus prop here's my problem I fish at 4500 feet to 1400 feet, I was able to get the boat on water for the first time 10 days ago and broke motor in, At 3100 feet My max speed was 47 gps after break in, several more runs showed 46 and 45. Maybe this the speed the boat will run but seems slow to me. All most forgot I'm running merc 175 pro xs for motor. Any help or sugestions would help thanks.

Did Merc change the WOT RPM's in 2013 from 5750 to 6000 on the 175 ProXS or has it always been 6000? I could of swore it was 5750 in 2012!!

You're right 5750 to 6000 for 175 pro xs, I'm not reaching full rpm at 3000 ft elevation but I also run at 1400 feet , I realize I can pitch to 17 but then I would be concern at over rev at 1400 ft.. I figure there is people on WC that have more knowledge on props then I do that is why I'm asking.

Thats why you will need 2 props to get the right performance at the different altitude. Wheres your motor mounted you may also need to raise it up a hole also.

I live in the Denver area. My buddy had a fiberglass runabout. For best performance, he had three props. A 19P for Lake McCounaughy (3200 feet), a 17P for Denver area lakes (5300 feet), and a 15P for mountain lakes (8500 feet). It was a pain to change the props out, but the boat ran so much better with the right prop.

Changeing props is easy, buying two or three props very hard on bank account. May have to use a alumium prop for higher elevation, one tempest plus is my limit. Propman my motor is in the second hole.

Next time out in boat get it on plane and trimed out to the sweet spot, then have someone take over the wheel and you go back and see where your cavitation plate is. If under the water still raise motor until out of water. If its skimming across the top of the water now then leave it alone. If it can be raised you'll pickup some rpms.
