Oil for a brand new Suzuki 9.9 kicker.

Just got my new kicker and I'm looking for advice on what oil to use. Was planning on using a synthetic and the book calls for 10w30. Nothing is written about a "break in" oil. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would check with the manufacture as I had seals leak on a generator because of synthetic oil.

I would stick with a conventional oil for a couple hundred hours before going synthetic.
I use Yamaha 10w-30 in mine because of availability, and may keep using it.
If you change it according to the owner's manual, I doubt you would ever have an oil related problem, no matter what certified 10w-30 you use.

Read your owners manual and follow the instructions to the letter for oil chage and type recommendations.

I ran conventional oil for break in period, switched to mystik synthetic marine oil after that. No issues.
