I put a live mouse trap, bait station in my boat - without any bait in the trap. That way if you have one running around, it gets a chance to be locked up with no way out.

In the spring I would put a roll of paper towels in the boat. Seems like rodents love to chew off a paper towel roll, that way you can tell if you have an unwanted visitor. If the roll of paper towels has not been chewed on, you don't have a problem.

I also keep my boat in storage for the winter. I only had one problem with mice in the boat and luckily, they only chewed a PFD. Been using CabFresh since then in most of the compartments without further issues. The CabFresh also smells nice, so if you forget to take it out of a compartment, its not a big deal.
