Default General policies

Adman originally posted this on the Fishing the Midwest board, but I thought it was appropriate here.

Howdy gang.
First, let me commend the lot of you. This year, the general tone on these message boards had been fabulous! You are an awesome bunch of anglers. The self policing and level headed attitude of 99.9% of you is commendable, and gives a moderator an easy task.

However, I feel it important to, once again, just list the basic guidlines here.

Basically there are few.

Try to keep the topic related to the title of that message board. Ask boat and motor questions on the Boats and Motors board. And remember, General Discussion is just that, any topic can be posted, as long as it is in good taste.

Do not use vulgar, derogatory words. Do not attack a person. Verbal abuse will get the post removed. If you have a rant, or an axe to gring, use language you'd use in public, and back your points up with facts.

If you have something to sell, plese utilize the swap or classifieds section. But be sure to follow the swap board guidelines.

Lastly, if you have a product or service you own, or are employed by, please don't post what amounts to an ad. Our goal is to be straight forward, honest and to the point. We treat everyone with as even a hand as we humanly can. You are absolutely free to answer any questions about your product or service, just don't turn the post into an ad. Answer questions, be descriptive but don't initiate a post on the matter. Please contact us to advertise. The quick free ad type post undermines the value of the people who pay to advertise here. You are not hurting us so much as chopping at the other advertisers value. Let's keep it the same for all advertisers.

We use advertising solely as a way to continue to bring the kinds of features, and products to you that we do. The Live Leaderboard, the site itself, the chat site, the message boards, attending shows, the magazine. It all costs money and time. Advertising is here solely to keep everything going. And we will never be all fluff and no substance.

That's about it.

This is your site.

Have fun..........R

*Rant mode off*

Smile Just a Muskie Fisherman

Hi Sticky,
I threw out a lot of lures there and a couple companies but don't work for either of them. Just helping the guy out and hopefully good information he will put to use. Thanks for the opportunity to have a great site like this.
