Kicker motor lock in place?!?
How do you guys lock your kicker engine when your not using it so it doesn't sway or turn into your big engine. The boat I just bought the guy was using a strap, is there something to lock it in a straight position?! Thanks Casey

I screwed a velcro strap to my deck and put the strap around the tiller handle and the motor link bar. Holds them in place with the motor up or down, towing or rocking across the water at 60mph. Works great.

My main OB has a strong tilt lock designed for use when trailering on the road. When traveling, I just turn the main to the right, and turn the kicker to the left. The kicker is held up with a 2X2 in the bracket.

I always tow with the kicker down. Not possible on all boats, I know. Much less pointless stress on the transom IMHO, especially on boats not really designed for a kicker in mind. Almost no stress on the transom if you can tow with it down, and also reduces the motor wanting to tilt in either direction. Same with running with the kicker trimmed. You're going to put a heck of allot less stress on all the mounting equipment, bolts, holes, etc, with it tilted straight, as it was designed to it trimmed up, as opposed to it sitting and bouncing all tilted and stressing everything out.
