Gen2 is a great unit and if its the only unit you are going to run then maybe a 12 will suit you better. I currently run the Gen3 9's and they are awesome!

Lowrance just lowered the retail prices of HDS Gen2 Touch models and bundles, up to $400 for the 12, $300 for the 9 and $200 for the 7.

I have been using a Hds 12 gen 2 on my last 2 boats. Very satisfied.

Been running HDS 10 & 8 for the past few years, 2 months now with Hds 12 gen 2. Have not powered up the 10 or 8 since, you will have to play with settings for a while. All the more reasons to get out . You will love it, could i interest you in a couple gen 1's. If budget is not an issue the gen 3 has a faster processer, either way the 12 is the only one that get's powered up on my boat now. Good Luck hope this helps.

The HDS 12 GEN2 is an outstanding unit. There's never been a better time to buy with recent MAP price reduction.
