I'm a little biased, really like this boat. Just wish it was rated for a 200

I looked long and hard at boats, and just bought the 2014 1850LS. After fishing out of one it was a very easy choice for me. Both are fine boats.

So how many of the 1850 owners have either upsized or wish they would have purchased the 2050? My dealer has told me I will regret not going bigger on my order.

LOL of course the dealer will say that.

I told my wife if I got the 1850 or 1860 to expect me to want the 2050 in 5 years. She told me to get the 2050 now or I would have an 1850.

I fish Lake Erie with a guy in an 1850 and his boat performs just as well if not better than mine. With two foot less length the boat is a bit more maneuverable, easier to trailer, seems to be less effected by wind on a drift, and easier on gas both in the truck and the boat.

The right question is how big is your garage? I had to build one to fit my boat, which i believe is the best way to go about it :-)

Garage is big enough, as is the budget. My concern with the 2050 is your point about maneuverability and can if I get it in and out of small lakes. How much difference will there be on this?
I appreciated the post and picture about having 7 people in the 1850, because sometimes we have that many in the boat for evening fishing. maybe with that many it shouldn't be called fishing but it is fun.
How many of the 1850 owners put the tandem trailer under their boat?
Not trying to hijack the OP thread. I am a Satisfied Lund owner looking at both Lunds and Rangers, leaning toward the Ranger.

I would have preferred to get the 2050 myself. But the difference in price was the main factor I did not. Storage was an issue, but I think the 1850 will do all I needed to do as I will be in it alone much of the time. I fished in 1850, with two other people, in that boat was fantastic. I have to think the 2050 would be just that much better.

I went with the 1850 over the 2050 because most of the time I am with 1 or 2 other people often my kids, and i felt it was big enough for our entire family when neededand also easier to load with one adult. Here is an example, last year it was just me and my 7 year old son at a very busy poor quality landing on a llake in SD. Landing was unprotected and the waves where rolling over the dock. I had to tie up the boat, 17.5 ft, at the end of the dock and fit the trailer in front of it to load. There where no other docks, and multiple trailers and boats in line. I was just able fit with the 17.5 boat and trailer on one side of the dock, likely would not have with a 20fter. If i always had someone to back up the trailer or drive the boat it would be different, or if I always fished bigger lakes with multiple lanes docks etc. but I also fish some off the beaten path lakes in sw mn and eastern sd. My wife wanted the 2050, so we will see in a few years who was right. Im sure there will be days I wish I had the 2050, but I think for the most part the 1850 will do the job. I reminded her 10 years ago we did all our fishing out of a 14ft lund with a 25hp, toddler and dog and were as happy as could be. I did order it with a tandom trailer. I have a 50x60ft shop so storage was not an issue.

Default 1850LS Ranger Reata vs Lund

[QUOTE=mikees;3171273]Does anyone has feedback on these boats? I will primarily be fishing Green Bay and a few inland lakes, plus the kids want to tube. Also is the new Mercury 4 stroke a good motor for these boats or should I step up to a Yamaha F175? I would like to stick with a 4 stroke. I live in the Green Bay area and was wondering if Pamps and Mr. Outboards have been good dealers after the sale? Or should I look elsewhere[/Q

Where I bought my first Ranger 05 the dealer had both and I went with the Ranger 1850 with 150 carb. I liked this outfit and it was great setup, I went with new 2012 1850 two years ago, with 150 Yamaha. I thought my 05 was great this 12 is an A+. I am not sure this will be my last boat, thinking it will be, 72 later this month. One last comment, I could have went with LS but it was about $5k difference. So I bought the in stock 1850 and glad I did.

2050 vs 1850

I launch my boat once a week on an 80acre, trolling motor only lake by myself. It maneuvers excellent for a 20ft boat. I am basing that on using my last boat on the same lake, a 16' Lund Angler DLX. I will say the ramp sucks also, water up to the wheel or better. I load and unload by myself 85% of the time. I use the terrova to put the boat out a ways, I never dock it, wind helps in these cases. If I'm on a larger body of water I usually tie it up. I am a bit slower than people who fish together all the time, but i'm faster than the majority at the ramp with that method.

I can move this 2050 reata around bass fishing in trees very well also. That is one of the biggest reasons I wanted the 2050, I can have two guys cast on the bow with no issues. You simply can't find the bow deck space on an aluminum boat, I tried.

You won't regret either boat, get a tandem trailer on whichever you choose and hopefully they are made better than in 08.

If you looking at the tin can Tyee I'd go Ranger in a heart beat. The tin vs. glass conversation shouldn't even be a conversation.
