I've been on of those guys who always seems to get 60-70k miles on tires. Firestone Steeltex, Kumho, BFG Long Trails, Goodyear RTS, etc.

I have a set of OEM Bridestone Duelers on my Sub right now I'll be lucky to get 25k on with rotations, etc even. I even had the front-end checked. Every tire is doing something weird wear wise.

According to my dealer, that's doing pretty good to get 25k out of them.

They recommend Firestone Destination and Cooper Discoverer's primarily as replacements on SUV's and Pick-Ups for traction, quietness, wear, and price. I'll probably go Cooper, US made.

If I am able to get 6K more, that will put me at 40K. Not sure how this stacks up as I purchased the vehicle used, but I'm not upset at 40K. Probably won't get the same tires again, but we'll see.

Thanks,

I barely got 28k out of my Bridgestones and that was pushing it. Wet weather traction was really bad at the point.

My '04 Suburban has Firestone Wilderness LE tires at 40K miles. It looks like they will last 60-70K miles.

Update....

After picking my Tahoe up yesterday, the GM Goodwrench colored sheet shows all 4 tires at 8/32's or above? It was the actuator in the AC and was fixed w/out problem.

Only real problem w/ the tires was a little wear which may have been due to alignment/lack of rotating. Just rotated and will check again in a few thousand miles. Hopefully can get 6-8K and be done.

Thanks again for all the help.

FWIW, if you don't have one already, get a good tire gauge (I like this one) http://www.amazon.com/Milton-Dial-Ty...9131302&sr=8-6 . Every time I get my oil changed, they keep dropping the pressures, so it's a ritual to re-inflate after every visit. Also, my local Firestone gave me a nice thread-depth indicator, like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Milton-S448-Tr...9131302&sr=8-1

Your initial post indicated that you were seeing excessive wear on the outside edges, so keep 'them pressures up!

Thanks HRG.

I have the tread depth gauge which works great. Need to get a better tire pressure one. I noticed on the electronic tire pressure system the Tahoe has that the pressure was 37psi for 1 tire and 36psi for the other 3. It was close to 31psi around the board a week or so ago.

I will keep an eye on this and as you mentioned, that should help quite a bit.

Thanks again,
