I agree with Juls, as usual. 2050 for best well rounded family boat for 7. Good luck!

I am also thankful REW posted all of his links in one post so as to pad his stat total. Haha.

Thanks for the input. I like the 620, but need the jump seats for the family time. That has caused me to look at the 1850 and 2050. My Tyee was rated for 7 people, I am surprised the 1850 is only 6 when it has the jump seat advantage.
One more question. How hard is a 2050 with a 250 HP motor to hand crank up on a Shorestation lift? It must be at least 50% heavier than a Tyee with a 175 EFI.

The sticker in my 2013 2050 says 8 persons not seven. As the owner of a 2050 Reata I can tell you that it would fit your needs nicely. There is more room from the windshield to the transom in the 2050 compared to the 620 plus it has the 2 jump seats giving it seating for six versus four in the 620. The windshield in the 620 is further back giving more space in the bow. The 2050 has a decent sized rod locker however the 620 definitely has more storage space. The 1850 Reata is actually a couple inches wider but you would notice the 2' shorter length.

Not to hijack thread but weight capacity is what you need to look at to be legal. It not the number of bodies.

I'm pretty sure the tag on my 1860 says 7 people - and I have actually put 6 + myself in it once just to ferry folks across the lake from a houseboat to the marina (one-time taxi service). She grunted a bit but got up on plane - I was impressed as I'm sure I was considerably over weight.

But you wouldn't want to try fishing 7 out of the 1860.

I have fished 5 out of it in Canada for a week - and that can be done as long as everyone is careful and cooperates.. but the big deck up front is really only geared toward one sitting or a couple guys standing.

1850 is rated for 7.

I love mine. I purchased it because I fish. The wife and kids want to play. It is a very nice compromise that allows us to do both.

I have had 6 adults in my boat, all fishing at the same time (spooning for stripers) -- with two coolers sitting in the bottom! It is a bit crowded, but it worked for us. I often time have 6 of us in the boat while trolling (2 or 4 rods). This also works -- the 102" width truly gives some great additional space over many other 18' boats.

Here is a picture from President's Day weekend at Lake Powell. The last day, we still had 7 of us at the lake -- we decided to just take one boat up to Navajo Canyon. We had 4 adults and 3 kids. Sure, it's a bit crowded -- but I'm not complaining!!

I do wish it had some kind of bench seat, so that smaller kids can sit with an adult.

Wakeboarding behind my boat is also pretty great. I put out a better (larger) wake in my 1850ls than my brother does in his 18' Larson ski boat. The tow bar get's the rope up to a decent height too. I'm certainly not a wakeboard pro, but water sports in this boat seem to be just fine.

Storage is adequate for me.

I absolutely love my 1850ls.

In Minnesota both matter, you can't exceed either the weight or the number of bodies. It might be different in other states.

Out of curiosity, has anyone every heard of any one ever being checked for too many folks on the boat, or had everyone get off the boat to be weighed to check for a weight rating being exceeded?
