Default Terrova iPilot Burning Through Batteries

Anyone else have issues with the remote for your terrova burning through batteries? It is a 2012 36 volt system and have gone through 2 batteries last year, and already in about 5 trips, gone through another one. Not a huge deal, but frustrating and this past week while at Erie on an island, did not have an option to replace.

Yeah, I go through them pretty regular. I always keep 1 in the boat bag, as soon as I replace it, another is purchased. I wish it would just take AAs or something.

Curious. Do you have the backlight turned on often? Maybe all the time?

Don't you have to turn on the backlight, or does it come on on its own? I don't recall ever turning it on.

Just thinking you might be pushing it on a regular basis without knowing it. In the daytime you'd be hard pressed to know you turned it on.

Go to walmart and pick up a pack of 10 for $8.

These are lithium batteries so they have a 10 year shelf life. So, you have essentially 10 years to use the batteries before they will self discharge.

Keep the batteries in the boat so that you always have a spare. When you get down to 3 batteries, buy another pack of 10.

Be safe

I fish few times a week plus a few tourney a year and only go through a battery every year and a half.....lol. Somethings not right with your unit then or else I ended up with some special energizer batteries

I have 2 different Ipilots; one is a Terrova and another is a Powerdrive. Different remote styles. The batteries in both remotes last years...

So my frustration of burning through batteries was enough that I bought another remote. It seems to be better, but I have already burned through 2 batteries this year (about 60-80 hours of remote use). So getting 30-40 hours per battery which seems on the low end. Anyone else having these issues? When not in use, the remote is in a hanging position and nothing is turned on.
