Default Finally the day has come! I bought1950 Tyee GS -A boat like I've always dreamed of!

Today I bought a 2000 Lund Tyee 1950, 200 VMAX Yamaha 2 Stroke, Yamaha 9.9 4 Stroke Kicker on a Panther Lift, iPilot 80# with Spotlock, Full top, Elite 7 Lowrance, Dual Axel Trailer, Surge Brakes! Ran it on the lake for a test drive.

Brian at Townsend Marine was great and went through every system on the boat with me and is fixing a few little issues you'd expect on a 15 year old boat. Top speed is 50 MPH GPS. Rides like a dream.

Boat I'm coming from is a 1987 Alumacraft with a 45 HP (roller trailer punched hole through the hull). Boat before that was a 14 foot rebel (like 1991). Can't wait to fish in this thing! Woo Hoo!

This is my first real boat. Any folks that have suggestions for care or have fished this style before feel free to weigh in with commentary if you aren't out on a lake fishing that is...

Would love to hear from people that owned this exact model boat or motors.

The boat and the trailer are build in the province of Quebec.

That looks very nice inside.

2015 Lund Alaskan 1600 tiller
Honda BF50D
Motorguide XI5, 24V, 80lb
Garmin 73DV

This is my second year with this boat and I am really loving it. I use it almost exclusively for fishing, so I have it set up with that in mind.

I have made some minor mods to it that I find quite handy. I'll tack on a few follow-on posts with some pics and descriptions of those too.

Thanks for looking. Comments and questions are welcome.

I have my trolling motor battery boxes rigged with weatherproof connectors and I mounted my Dualpro on-board charger to a block with rubber feet to make it a portable.

Some might think this defeats the advantages of having an on-board unit, bur with limited space for storage in this boat, I didn't want the charger permenantly installed. I can set this unit on the bow and plug the connectors on in seconds, without needing to open the battery boxes.

The lids of my battery box are perfectly sized to hold my floatation cushions in place. No fear of them coming off on the road with the box lid secured.

I mounted three MOLLE panels to the side of the rod locker. This let's me mount military surplus pouches, which are water resistant, to the panels. I can keep pliers, knives, flashlights, water bottles, and anything else I need at my fingertips while still sitting in the tiller seat.

My Garmin is mounted to a block of teak. This raises it slightly, but it's mostly so I could avoid drilling new holes in the top of the rod locker. It is mounted in the preexisting holes.

I have my spare prop mounted in my bilge. A threaded rod is mounted securely to the aluminum bracing, and I made a diy wing nut out of wood and a stainless nut. This way I don't need any tools to remove or secure my spare prop.

I also keep a spare plug secured to my battery cable. If I ever have a "plug-out" emergency, I figure I'll want that plug at my fingertips.

I have a 40 inch stainless ruler mounted behind my livewell lid. It's a very handy location. The wood holder, I made in my shop.

I also mounted a drawer handle below my fuse/switch panel to protect it from sliding tackleboxes, etc. Easy to do and cheap insurance.
