That's how I've been doing it, far easier than any other way, unless your motor has slots for the bottom holes than that is even better.

yea, I screwed up I tightened everything up after i moved up the motor. I should have tested it before aplly 3m5200 sealant. Because now if Iwant ot move the motor it's going to be a *itch. I am hoping this was far enough.

I've used 5200 a few times, it's not that bad, had the bolts covered and they pulled out just fine. Used a long putty knife to scrape under the motor bracket and it comes off pretty good, The last time I did use 4200 though.

I did a Test run today and the boat did plane alot faster in the water that was like glass. I think REW was correct. I think I could have gone at least 1 more up. The fin is still under the water. while traveling on plane. the RPM also raised to about 3800will full trim down. So i think if I go up one or 2 more spots it would be a tad bit better. But that will be a fall project this year I think. It took me 2 hours to do it by my self.
Thanks for all the great advise guys your awesome. Also running on the lake with the motor trimmed up I hit 5,000RPM and the speedo showed right about 48. I don't think the speedo is right, but i need about Max RPM is 6,000 on the tag so I would like to get a couple hundred more RPMS.

It sounds like your prop might be a pitch or 2 to big as well, you want to be closer to the 6000 mark than the 5000 when trimmed up at WOT. Moving it up will gain you a little more, but I think a new prop might be in order to get the most out of you boat and motor.

I just purchased a new boat with a 90 optimax on it and it came standard with the 13x19p prop.

Right now my motor is setting about where yours is after the adjustment (center hole - maybe 1/2 inch above the bottom of the V in my boat) and I top out at 5200 RPM and 35 MPH. (motor is not broke in yet - only about 2-3 hours on it, so may not be able to hit full RPM yet)

Anyway once broken in, I plan to try a 4 blade 17p spitfire prop. I expect to lose 1-2 mph in top speed, but I should move up to about 5600-5800RPM WOT and have a much better hole shot and better holding on plane at lower speed. (I typically cruise at about 2,200-2,300 RPM and 23mph and drop off plane if I drop below 20MPH).

Whatever you get, please report back and let us know the differences with whatever prop you go with.

Michael
