I hear you though, were out almost everyday around my neck of the woods and its been nothing short of brutal conditions. On monday we were greeted by 75kmh winds directly east, just brutal! Like I mentioned, I never fish Wheelers point up that far, but it is possible that as the shiners run my way, the fishing slows in that area? and increases in mine. In the summer, we have zero walleye here. Come the fall, many walleye come from LOTW and Rainy Lake. Another thought, for bigger fish, you might wanna look shallow. Our best fish so far are coming in less then 10 FOW. Hope you have better luck next week! |

The walleye bite is on pretty good now, the bigger fish are in and biting! Water temps around 45-50 degrees.
Hit the long sault yesterday and pulled alot of good fish 20-27". Fished the manitou rapids as well and did just as good. If the weather holds for another few weeks, looks like its gonna be a great time for cowbeena walleyes!!! |

Rainy River report
I just returned last night fron the Rainy. The place to go is at the Frontier, about 15 miles east of Baudette. Low water level makes it a little tough at the dockless landing. The best bite for us was about 200 yards either side of the eagles nest, west of the landing, in 12-14 ft with the largest river shiners you can find on a 1/4 oz jig. We kept walleyes from 16-19" had a few over with one at 25.5".
Good luck, Jawjerker |

report 10/31-11/1
Fished near Vidos about 2 miles east in 19' of water. On Monday 3 of us caught limits on walleyes and sauger and threw 5 pike and 2-30" sturgeon back. Biggest walleye was 19" We did witness 2-27" walleyes being caught near us.
Tuesday was a total different day, we caught 3 keepers and a bunch of 6-12" walleye/sauger. Very slow bite. Both days was a very light bite and reverted to using stingers with 3/8 oz glow jigs. |

Manitou Bass
I was up around Frontier to Pinewood Oct 21-28 without much success. thinking about coming back up around the 18th of November. How has fishing been up around your area of the river lately? Not many reports as of late so it's hard to gauge the bite. It's a 10 hour drive for me so any info would be great. Thanks |

It's been really good, but not as good in years previous.
The shiners def. ran this year, but it seems (and I've heard from others) that many of the eyes stayed in the lake. Personally, I think it was a bad fall because of the incredibly low water levels. Still good fishing, just not AMAZING, like we can normally say this time of year. We got a little snow yesterday, but the forecast for the next week looks fishable. I know I'll be out there trying... lol |
