Default Musky Guide

I'm planning a trip up to Minnesota or Wisconsin this year. I only have time for 3-4 days of fishing. I was checking out some of the guides on the Musky Hunter website. The rates run from $150 - $600 per day. I don't mind spending around $300 but $600 seems kinda high. Do you guys have any advice? How much does the average guide run? How is trophy fishing in the spring? I'm planning on going in June but I could make it later. Some of the guides offer a guaratee to catch fish or the next trip is free (this guy charges about $600 per day). Thanks in advance - Stu

I would recommend Mr Woodruff, great guys. But if your truly after a big fish, I would go with Gregg Thomas on Mill Lacs, you will have a trip of lifetime, with big fish. On average you are going to spend $250 a day for a guide.

Good luck

If you are coming to Northern Wisconsin, Rob Manthei is the guide you want to hire for muskies. He is awesome, one of the best around

I think you'll find a wide variance in pricing depending on the area and the guides reputation. Here in Vilas county most guides are running in the $275-350 range with most probably around $300.

My experience with guides in northern Wisconsin is exactly what Pete Stoltman indicated. $275 to $350 with $300 being average price.
