I've had a 50 and now a 60hp ETEC with no problems. The holeshot is amazing and the trolling works fine. The gearcase is a bit beefy but I need it that way fishing in the rivers. I have it connected to my Lowrance HDS7 with all of the engine data. Very clean burning engine.

Nice to hear the good reviews on the midrange Etecs. I think a 60 with Icommand would be be a great tiller setup!

I like my Etec if I were to look at other outboards in the 60 hp models I`d look at Honda.

I wouldn`t mind trying out a Etec 60 tiller someday.

The Two cylinder design in this high of hp has me wondering how smooth it is.

I love my 115 Etec but I`d be tempted in the 60 hp to go with a three cylinder fourstroke Honda.

The 75 & 90hp ETEC's are only 320 pounds.

The 75 & 90 Optis are 375 pounds

X2..Looking to get a matching 9.9 high thrust and Suzuki came out with their 15 hp EFI. I know as soon as I pull the trigger they'll spit one out. That being said after looking at both motors specs they're very similar. Same gear ratio, slightly larger displacement -except the 15 hp doesn't have electric tilt and is actually lighter. What would be the issue if the price is right going with the 15 hp over the 9.9?

One possible issue is that you may end up wanting to fish on a lake or pond some day that has a 10HP limit (the main reason, I assume, that 9.9HP engines are so popular...).
