Default HDS 8 Wiring

Hello,
I am going to be installing an HDS 8 on the bow of my boat. What size wire should I be using to connect to my fuse panel?

Thanks in advance.

Default Suggestion

Run 8 gauge positive and a negative wires from the battery to a strategically positioned separate buss terminal block. Then run your locator, structure scan to it. Cleans up the application and makes it easy to add electronics to it. Can't locate the pics but I purchased it from NAPA for around $20.00. Eliminates the possiblity of interference too.

Thumbs up Gary's idea is excellent..

I have done just what as Gray has recommended.
You can use this buss/block for your other electronic gadgetry as well.
Makes it easy to track down blown fuses, bad connections, etc
which tend to be fewer with this buss/block.

You can go to http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/am...uge-d_730.html for that infomation. 14 gauge should be good if the HDS 8 is all you are going to run on the bow. Hope that helps.

Default Fuse block

I ran some 6 gauge to a fuse block in bow.I have other things hooked up in the bow area and this gives me a point to wire to with seperate fuses. My 2010 ProGuide had a additional tube under floor to run wires through to main battery plus access ports up front and feeding wire was not that hard. Now I have a fuse block to run anything I may want.
