Default Carpet - vinyl question

Does a carpeted floor give more protection than a vinyl only floor? I guess what I'm getting at is, does a carpeted floor have the vinyl under the carpet? Am I getting a double layer of floor material with carpet vs vinyl? If I order a vinyl floor is the manufacturer simply not installing carpet over the vinyl that would be there anyway?

It's one or the other. Not one on top of the other. I think vinyl would offer more protection to the plywood deck if it was always in a wet environment.

I ordered vinyl but wondered more and more after watching videos. It looked as though there might be vinyl under the carpet.

I have worked on a lot of boats, and have not seen carpet over vinyl, unless it was snap in, or a loose piece thrown on top by the owner.

Default What lol I got both

Vinyl and Carpet snaps in. Keep water off your boat store indoors with vinyl unless you got wood free transom and deck. Vinyl could keep floor from drying out. Carpet does breath better! I love Vinyl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And run factory snap in carpet above. But then again vinyl could protect from water poured into top and runs to drain. I guess make sure boat is dry before sealing it up with top and for sure do not use tarps.
