I will guess fishing will win, seeing as you are on a fishing website.

I agree that fishing will win, but then most fishermen also hunt and vice versa so it may very well be quite close. I would respond; fishing 1st, hunting 2nd, mostly because I have a much longer fishing season than a hunting season.

Years ago I tried to do it all ... was marginally successful at any one thing.
Those were the days when I said that fishing was best through the ice ... after hunting season(s) were over. I am sure that is because I could be dedicated to it. Long story short ... I chose fishing over hunting. I can put a fish back ... I can't put anything back when I hunt. I do still harrass the deer in my yard with paint balls while they eat my landscaping .... ( oops!! Did I say that out loud? ) Morton |

Unless you sit in one spot and wait for a fish to come to you, fishing is hunting.

Fishing has alway been my first love. I have slowly and surely been seeing the value of the hunt . I love the comradery of the hunt. It is like a goup fish or tounement. It is more to me about the experience than the actual KILL. Maybe I will never be a true hunter but I love getting out in the field and tracking around taking and haveing a good time with the fellows. Thinks like the breakfast before the hunt are priceless in my book. I look forward to that every year. Checkmate.

Hunting in the fall. Fishing the rest of the year.

Agree
We can generally hunt pheasants untill after the 1st of the year in ND if the weather is good, then there is snowmobiling, icefishing, and river fishing. Its great to have options, now if I had more vacation time!

A Busy Person Gets Things Done
When I taught high school, I would sit in study hall and dream of all the things I would do while looking at hunting and fishing magazines. Five years ago, I retired and I have been finding plenty of time to do both hunting and fishing activities. When I worked and was raising a family, it was tough diciding which activity and how often to pursue it. There was never enough time. My boys were atheletes and that added to the mix. I coached three sports for awhile, whew. Life is simpler now and I have added golf just to keep me busy. Wish I still had the energy of a few years back. Do everything you can and appreciate what you are doing at the time, lift goes way too fast so do it all as long as you can.

I've been a fanatical bird hunter since the day I first started, and I shoot a fair number of clays each year too.
I'm back to fishing after a 20 year absence, so I'm a bit more passionate than I would be had I stuck with it all those years. A perfect day for me would be to spend the morning chasing birds and the afternoon on the water...or vice versa. Put me down for a coin flip... |
