No they will not! They have to be lifted straight up or they don't open.

I've snagged bottom/? trolling musky baits at 5+mph and they will not let go.
I also use them for trout/Salmon with planer boards and such with no problems.

The track systems are nice, but they need tracks to work, Bert's and such work very well but are spendy and you have the track to deal with.

I run the flush mount Flobe's and now have about 6 of them and added a few extra mounts so no matter what I am fishing, I have a location for a mount that works for me..

The mount release can get a bit sticky and if all is just right, you can pull the rod out of the holder and the holder will pull out enough to go overboard, my wife can do this little feat btw.

Little silicone spray occasionally will prevent this.

Found these on ebay. I saw them in cabelas bargain cave a while ago. I use the 6.5" extensions with mine. Also have the quick draw version.

I used Ram 2000's for years. When taking the kids out with me, the ends of the rod handles sticking into the boat were getting knocked around a lot. I bought some Berts & am extremely happy with them, the back of the boat is way more open now.

Yeah, I just saw the Jrs. the last time I was at Thorne Bros. I would have probably gone for these had they been available at the time.

The Folbes were designed out west for Salmon fishing, so you can be sure they will handle pretty much anything we can throw at them here in MN.

I use Tite-loks mounted on a homemade base. The only thing I'd trade them for is a set of Cisco's.

Hello: I use Cabelas quick draws with the flush mounts. Work great for me, no need to try anything else. Good Luck this season O - R

I like the quick draws too but many trolling pole handles won't fit in them. Great bait fishing pole holder though.
