I fished my first one in Spring valley last weekend, Couldnt agree more that it was frustrating having guys just pass you when you are waiting your turn. Especially into the harbor. Other than the wait for the weigh in, I thought it was an awesome event.

Shouldn't Dan Palmer be seeing to this. Dan Palmer Tournament Director, i.e. the BOSS, of the MWC, so shouldn't he be enforcing the rules and reviewing the complaints any of you lodged about the bumper boats issues?

Cut them some slack. Almost EVERYONE had limits and that is rare. It takes time to weigh all those fish but I do agree it was a bit on the frustrating side. If you stretch out the flights and it is a tough bite there will be a gap in the weigh-in process.

Do you think he is not?? Why would you think that?? I would bet every cent I have that this will be addressed at the next event. The cutting in line has been a problem in every big tournament I have fished except when using cow tags.

My partner and I were also very frustrated about the weight in. To arrive at the check in boat at 3:25 and not go across the stage until 5:20 seems a bit too long of a wait along with keeping fish alive. There were still boats after us to be weighted in. I see no reason (no matter if we have a good bite or a bad bite) why there is not at least a 1 hour gap between flight ending times. You might as well allow the second flight anglers to fish vs playing bumper boats for 1-2 hours in a pack. I would still keep the starting times at 7 and 7:30 but make check in time 3:00 and 4:00. Second day we came in 10 minutes early to avoid this issue and that's not right.

I'm also sure they have heard the complaints, but I dont agree about the gap in flights. They could use any extra time to hand out sponsor stuff and talk about the sponsors! The "gap" wouldnt effect the tournaments that fill up, it's the smaller ones that they would have trouble with. They could adjust based on the numbers per event! SIMPLE solutions to an easy fix. We all know going what each events rules are, it really isnt that hard to run an event like Spring Valley. The walleye club does all the hard work! A BIG thanks to them for all the hard work those people put in! |

This is why Dan Palmer is paid all of that money. He is the boss of the MWC. He knows these problems have existed for many years.
Palmer must not have addressed these issues during the off season while he was creating the schedule, meeting with the sponsors and working for the TWF. |

Rich S, thanks for the Love. As for the bumper boat issue, I'll talk with the man upstairs and we'll channel Dan Palmer the changes that should be made if we deam them needed.

I hate to be the one to say it, but I think Dan was the reason it took so long. You can't try to talk to every team that comes up on the stage. You have to keep it moving. As they approach the stage you just say team number, followed by their names, say how many fish they have, and announce the weight. If it is a good catch, then you can ask some questions and take some pics, but you simplie can't do that for every team. I think he will learn that. I was not in the tournament, but I was there to witness this. Other than that, I think he did a nice job.
