Default Spinner inline with crankbait?

I read somewhere that hooking a small spinner before the crank bait will attract gamefish better. Has anyone out there used this technique? How long should the leader be?

I use a small french blade in front of cranks when I'm using in-line weights. I have 3-4' steel nylon coated leaders with a snap swivel on the end. I put a bead right in front of the leader crimp, then the blade right behind that. Makes a night and day difference sometimes.

So...the distance between the crankbait and the spinner could be 3 to 4 feet?...

No, it's only the length of the snap swivel away. I just meant that I have premade 3-4' leaders ready to go.
